Bottom-Loading Ovens

Bottom-Loading (Rapid-Quench) Ovens are primarily used for batch heat-treatment processes, where products need to be rapidly quenched (usually <10 seconds).

Ovens are usually supplied with at least one Mobile Quench Tank, mounted on rails, containing a quench medium, which can be hot or cold water or a polymer solution. Access is through a side-sliding door in the base of the oven.

Parts to be treated ar loaded into a purpose designed load basket, which is loaded either onto a load platform on the front of the tank, or a separate load bogie, and then hoisted into the oven using a pneumatic or hydraulic lift mechanism built into the oven.  The quench tank is positioned directly under the oven.

After the required treatment time, the door opens and the load basket is quickly lowered into the quench tank. The tank is then moved from under the oven, and the basket retrieved from the tank.

Basket handling is achieved using a bespoke lifting frame used either on the client's existing crane, or a lifting system installed with the oven.

Multiple tanks can be supplied if multiple quench media need to be accommodated, and where polymer is used, rinse tanks can be supplied for rinsing off polymer after quenching.

Any necessary steps, ladders and catwalks can be provided as required for operation, maintenance and pyrometry access.
